This book is part of a series of introductions to aspects of the Royal Armouries' collections of arms and armour.
Written by Thom Richardson, Deputy master and Head of Collections and Natasha Bennett, Acting Curator of Oriental Collections at the Royal Armouries.
The scope of this book largely reflects the collections of Indian arms and armour in the Royal Armouries. Almost all of the holdings are concentrated in the period from the formation of the Mughal empire in the 16th century to the end of the 19th century when western firearms technology had been widely adopted.
This small publication aims to help make this important western collection of Indian armour and arms accessible. It offers interesting insight into the topic detailing many fascinating objects in the collection including the Elephant armour, or bargustavan-i-pil (XXXVIA.102), and the Akali quoit turban (bunga dastar) (XXVIA.60).

Any parcels that are undelivered, due to nobody being available at the delivery address or incorrect address being provided, or subsequently uncollected from pick-up location, will be returned to sender. Collect in store
If you choose to collect in store, we will send you a notification once your order is ready to collect. Collections can be made from the shop at Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds during opening hours. You will be required to show your order confirmation email and a form of ID for the name on the order. Limited short stay, road-side parking is available on Clarence Road or Citipark operate the nearby Leeds Dock multi-storey car park. Please note that parking charges may apply.
International shipping outside the UK
All international orders will be sent by courier. The estimated delivery time for European deliveries is 7-10 working days*** and 10-14 working days*** for rest of the world, however this is not guaranteed.
