Armour up for battle in the kitchen with these oven gloves inspired by the Tonlet Armour of Henry VIII.

Created for Henry to use during the Field of the Cloth of Gold tournament in 1520, the Tonlet Armour is one of the jewels in the Armouries’ crown, a dramatic full armour set featuring Italian and Flemish components with etched decoration. 

These oven gloves are designed in the style of the gauntlets, ready to offer protection and start conversations.

The Royal Armour of Henry VIII Collection

Craftmanship fit for a king.

This illustrated pattern features iconic Henry VIII's armour from the Royal Armouries Collection. The design includes Foot Combat (Object II.6) and Tonlet Armour (Object II.7), created for the Field of Cloth of Gold Tournament in 1520, and the Horned Helmet (Object IV.22) which was gift from Emperor Maximilian I in 1514 (which can all be viewed in the tournament gallery at our Leeds museum). The design and accompanying imagery are inspired by illustrations from medieval manuscripts held in our collection, featuring elements such as the Tudor rose, jousters, foot combat, chalices, and a banner bearing the phrase "Craftsmanship fit for a king." This collection serves as real celebration to the armour of King Henry VIII and the Tudor dynasty.

  • Collections can be made from the shop at Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds during opening hours.
  • You will be notified via email once your order is ready for collection.
  • Once you receive this notification, we will hold your order for 30 days.
  • Please bring your order confirmation and ID that matches the name on the order.
  • Limited short stay, road-side parking is available on Clarence Road or Citipark operate the nearby Leeds Dock multi-storey car park. Please note that parking charges may apply.
