Fort Nelson, Portsmouth

Perched on the hills above Portsmouth Harbour, Fort Nelson is a magnificently restored Victorian fortress and home to the Royal Armouries’ world-class artillery collection. Spread across over 19 acres of tunnels, ramparts, and open gun platforms, it offers a dramatic and immersive day out for all ages.

Highlights of the collection include the 15th-century Turkish bombard cannon and the infamous ‘Big Babylon’ Iraqi supergun — two of the most extraordinary pieces of artillery anywhere in the world.
