English arming sword letter opener — Royal Armouries collection
This English Arming Sword Letter Opener is part of our Royal Armouries Collection. A range of authentic arms and armour replicas which gives our customers the chance to own and display their own little piece of history. From the initial selection to the final prototype the museum's expert curators in armour and edged weapons have been personally involved. These replicas accurately capture the dimensions and materials of the original pieces in our collection, with a huge amount of attention to detail.
Medieval English Arming Swords are rare pieces to find and the site in which this sword was discovered in unknown. Despite that we know it is English in original due to its decoration and that it was produced in the mid-13th Century. The cross guard depicts mythical creatures including a Gryphon and Wyvern. It also, and importantly, depicts Babewyns, these are grotesque gargoyles with no bodies but a head and tiny legs, often used in architecture. Similar Babewyns to those on this sword are found in contemporary English manuscript illustrations.
This stunning replica comes in an attractive black Royal Armouries presentation box, to display your sword in the best possible way. It is also easily removable so can be used perfectly as a letter opener or paper knife.

Please note that it is the customer's responsibility to ensure that there is someone available at the delivery address to accept the parcel. Any parcels that are undelivered, due to nobody being available at the delivery address or incorrect address being provided, or subsequently uncollected from pick-up location, will be returned to sender. We will automatically issue a refund for all products once they have been received back at the museum, however, the cost paid for shipping is non-refundable.
Age verification
All sales of replica blades, replica firearms and alcohol require age verification, therefore, these can only be sent with the Parcelforce Age Check service (24 or 48).
Collect in store
If you choose to collect in store, we will send you a notification once your order is ready to collect. Collections can be made from the shop at Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds during opening hours. You will be required to show your order confirmation email and a form of ID for the name on the order. Limited short stay, road-side parking is available on Clarence Road or Citipark operate the nearby Leeds Dock multi-storey car park. Please note that parking charges may apply.
International shipping outside the UK
All international orders will be sent by courier. The estimated delivery time for European deliveries is 7-10 working days*** and 10-14 working days*** for rest of the world, however this is not guaranteed.
