Excalibur mini sword letter opener

£28

This mini sword letter opener is a beautiful reproduction of Excalibur, the legendary sword of King Arthur.

This paper knife has a gold coloured brass plated hilt with under tones of turquoise. It has a decorative finish with relevant imagery etched into the cross-guard and pommel. The gleaming Toledo steel blade catches the light and draws your attention to the gold detailing on the fuller. The red leather grip separates the pommel and cross-guard, while providing an attractive contrast to the turquoise detailing, making this letter opener stand out.

This beautiful mini sword would look fantastic on display when not in use as a letter opener. Combined with our mini sword stand, this replica can take centre stage on your coffee table or desk. A perfect gift for a British history or literature enthusiast.

'The History of the Kings of Britain', as told by Geoffrey of Monmouth, is one of the earliest developed narratives of King Arthur. In this story he described a sword called 'Caliburnus', stating that it was forged in the Isle of Avalon. The 'Caliburnus' later become known as the 'Excalibur' and this is the very sword that later became the subject of Robert De Boron's 'Merlin'. In this tale a young King Arthur proves he is the rightful king of England by drawing the sword from the anvil set in the stone.

Please note that the Excalibur letter opener does not come with a stand. Paper knife stands can be purchased separately. This mini sword letter openers is compatible with the following display stands;
