Tournament mead with ginger

£17.99

Expertly crafted by Lyme Bay Winery in Devon, this small batch mead is a sweet and flavoursome pour that's a perfect addition to a cosy fireside read or hearty banquet with friends and family. Our Tournament mead is a dark, sweet flavour that's been paired with a hint of ginger. Perfect at room temperature and enjoyed with spicy food, strong cheeses or chilled desserts.

Mead or, as it is commonly known, 'nectar of the gods' is the world’s oldest alcoholic drink. Mead is created by honey and water fermented with yeast, sometimes containing various fruits, spices, grains, or hops. It is believed that mead was essentially first been discovered when accidentally some honey got wet. When raw honey gets moisture into it, there is a chance that natural yeast will start a fermentation process that converts the sugar in honey into alcohol. Nowadays, the yeast used in mead making is often identical to that used in winemaking.
