Lion armour tea towel
A tea towel should be absorbent enough to cope with a whole draining board’s worth of cutlery and crockery, and soft enough not to scratch and scour plates. And as tea towels are often on display, hanging on hooks and oven doors, it helps if they look great too.
This tea towel is made from pure cotton, durable and machine washable, coordinates with the matching set of oven gloves and kitchen apron.
This tea towel features a printed design inspired by the Lion Armour on display at Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds.
Created in Italy or France around 1550, the Lion Armour is thought to have been made for the French King, Henry II. When originally created, this armour would have been iridescent blue, a striking opposition to the gold damascene; which has faded over time to the colour seen today.
