The Design Inspiration

Historical weapons aren't all sharp angles and bold monochromes — some feature bright colours and intricate patterns. One of the most stunning in the Royal Armouries collection is a small 19th-century Indian dagger (object number XXVID.80), known as a 'peshkabz' (meaning 'fore-grip' in Persian), housed in a wooden scabbard covered with red velvet and hemmed in gilt braid. The hilt is decorated with scales of pink hardstone (possibly amethyst) over silver foil and polished emeralds in gold rivets, whilst the bolster features gold interlaced with an engraved floral pattern. It is an exquisite work of incredible artistry — and now inspires a vivid collection of textiles, stationery, and more.

Please ensure that someone is available at the delivery address to receive your order. Any undelivered or uncollected parcels will be returned to sender. We will automatically issue a refund for all products once they have been received back at the museum, however, shipping is non-refundable.

Collect in store

  • Collections can be made from the shop at Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds during opening hours.
  • You will be notified via email once your order is ready for collection.
  • Once you receive this notification, we will hold your order for 30 days.
  • Please bring your order confirmation and ID that matches the name on the order.
  • Limited short stay, road-side parking is available on Clarence Road or Citipark operate the nearby Leeds Dock multi-storey car park. Please note that parking charges may apply.

All items in orders containing a pre-order product will be shipped together when the pre-order product is available for dispatch. Please check the pre-order product page for further updates.
