Mini cavalry sabre letter opener
A miniature replica letter opener of the Cavalry Sabre, a sword traditionally associated with cavalry soldiers who fought mounted on horseback. This replica has a slightly curved stainless steel blade mounted on an ornate golden basket hilt with burgundy coloured grip that has the effect of gold rope wrapped around it.
The one handed nature of the Cavalry Sabre made it ideal for use on horseback and the curved blade is believed to have allowed for better success with downward striking during battle. The cavalry sabre has an ornate basket hilt which is considered quite unnecessary as it didn't serve much of a purpose for soldiers on horseback.
The Cavalry Sabre was used widely during the Napoleonic War where the cavalry is said to have won Napoleon I and the French Empire many victories. Its origins are believed to be from the Middle Eastern Scimitar, which owes its only existence to the Turkish Kilij. In the modern day, the cavalry sabre is no longer in use for military combat however it is used as a decorative item worn with dress uniform.

Please note that it is the customer's responsibility to ensure that there is someone available at the delivery address to accept the parcel. Any parcels that are undelivered, due to nobody being available at the delivery address or incorrect address being provided, or subsequently uncollected from pick-up location, will be returned to sender. We will automatically issue a refund for all products once they have been received back at the museum, however, the cost paid for shipping is non-refundable.
Age verification
All sales of replica blades, replica firearms and alcohol require age verification, therefore, these can only be sent with the Parcelforce Age Check service (24 or 48).
Collect in store
If you choose to collect in store, we will send you a notification once your order is ready to collect. Collections can be made from the shop at Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds during opening hours. You will be required to show your order confirmation email and a form of ID for the name on the order. Limited short stay, road-side parking is available on Clarence Road or Citipark operate the nearby Leeds Dock multi-storey car park. Please note that parking charges may apply.
International shipping outside the UK
All international orders will be sent by courier. The estimated delivery time for European deliveries is 7-10 working days*** and 10-14 working days*** for rest of the world, however this is not guaranteed.
