Postcard; The Battle of Pavia, France (1500–1525)

Postcard size
The Battle of Pavia was a watershed moment in the history of European warfare, clearly demonstrating the power of infantrymen armed with firearms over fully-armoured horsemen. This near-contemporary painting provides a vivid representation of that battle which also destroyed French ambitions in Italy, as well as leading to the capture of King Francis I by his arch-rival, Charles V, the Holy Roman Emperor.
