Sutton Hoo Helmet
The Sutton Hoo helmet is an Anglo-Saxon armoured helmet that was originally located in a ship burial in Suffolk, England. The Sutton Hoo is in fact one of only four known surviving Anglo-Saxon helmets.
The helmet is believed to have belonged to four possible kings Raedwald who was overlord of the English kingdoms between AD616 and his death (at the latest in 627, probably in 625/626), Eorpwald (died 627/628) and co-regents Sigebert and Ecric, who both died fighting Penda of Mercia in AD637.
The beautiful decorations featured on The Sutton Hoo helmet feature intricate illustrations of flying dragons and boars. The body of the helmet is made up of iron and finished with tinned-bronze decorative plates.
Our Sutton Hoo helmet hand crafted from steel and brass and features hinged cheek pieces and a leather lining. A truly unique helmet and a stunning representation of such an iconic piece of history.
