William Wallace replica sword
Measuring 107.5cm in length, this is a full size interpretation of the sword used by William Wallace – one of the leaders in the War of Scottish Independence.
This replica boasts an 82.5cm stainless blade which extends from a simple, yet elegant, hilt. The stainless steel crossguard and pommel are minimalist in design with just some ridged detail. Sat between these two features is a stained wood grip with two rings embossed towards the crossguard, for improved grip. This sword would not look out of place on display in a modern and minimalist home, a rarity for an object inspired by medieval history.
William Wallace is remembered, in Scotland, as a Scottish national hero for his many successes against England; the most notable being that at Stirling Bridge in 1297. He became one of the highest profile leaders during the Wars of Scottish Independence before being captured and executed by Edward I for treason. As the majority of Wallace’s early life is undocumented, there is still some mystery surrounding his origins; some believe he was born into a gentry family in the Scottish town of Elderslie.
To some, William Wallace is best known from the silver screen as the main protagonist of the film Braveheart. This replica sword has been inspired by and based on the sword used in that very film.
